"I always thought good photos were like good jokes. If you have to explain it, it just isn't that good." - Anonymous
Brian J. Krummel
OWNER, PRESIDENT, Principal

The ringleader and rainmaker for Iziks Interactive is owner Brian J. Krummel. Brian helps the client understand a project's potential and limitations from both a programmer's and a designer's point of view, offering a balanced interest in both the creative and technical aspects of web design and development.

Prior to forming Iziks Interactive in 2001, he has been on professional teams of advertising agencies, graphic designers, and interactive companies acting as both designer and developer. From 2002-2004 Brian served as a board member on the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), excercising his creative opinions as a psuedo-graphic-designer.

As President of Iziks Interactive, Brian runs the business and manages all aspects of a project including the securing of a project, project management, web design, and web development; including overseeing and training his very talented in-house team of programmers.

Technically, Brian's expertise lies in web development; specifically: database design and development, web programming in PHP and Coldfusion, and custom Content Management System applications. He also designs client websites and application interfaces, just for kicks-n'-giggles.

Background in the photographic arts
Brian J. Krummel, a photographer by formal training, completed a BA in Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1996, focusing on photography as a creative discipline. He pursued a series of photographic careers before his introduction to the web.

Photography is now a creative outlet for Brian more than a revenue generator. His passion for photography has led him to continue his own photographic experimentations and explorations over the years with a variety of tools and techniques, which most recently included branching off into the interests of lo-fi, toy camera, and pinhole photography. In 2010, Brian self-published his first book, The Pinhole Camera: A Practical How-To Book for Making Pinhole Cameras and Images. His second photographic book, is currently in production and will be available in 2012.

Brian has gained media exposure through television, newspapers, and in photography magazines. His work has been published in IronWorks, Light Leaks, Platform, StrongBox, and American Photo. He also teaches workshops where emerging artists can learn the hands-on basics of pinhole photography.

Let's get personal!
Brian lives and works in Bethel Park which is a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. He is married to his best friend of 17 years and proud to be called father by three children and one miniature black poodle. In his freetime Brian enjoys living the dad-life — shuffling his three kids from one activity to another.

His personal interests include travel, road trips, fishing, boating, hiking, or biking; and, of course, photography. He plays the electric guitar (although not very well) and his CD collection displays the widest range of music genres possible for one human being. Brian loves vintage things: cameras, movies, television series, video games, and VW Beetles to name a few; although, his favorite store is IKEA which is a complete contradiction.

With Christianity serving as an integral part of his character, he is a member of his local church and serves on several Children's Ministry committees.
